The Faith of a Mustard Seed

Matthew 14:29-31

“And he said, ” Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

One year on July 3rd I was listening to a message from In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley about how we as people are drifting away from God. As much as we try to keep our eyes on God we are distracted by so many things: money, cars, clothes, tv, people, places, and so much more. We must learn to prioritize our lives or we will get caught up. We begin chasing and trying to keep up with the Jones, and before we know, we haven’t progressed anywhere.  That is because we are not fulfilling our purpose, doing what God has called us to do, or utilizing our gifts as we should. Those people you’re chasing and want to be like are happy because they are fulfilling their life’s purpose and using their God-given talents. It’s time to thank God for favor over your life.

God we know we can’t make it without you, but somehow we allow distractions to steer us off track and take our eyes off of you. We ask that you help keep us focused so that we can take the right path. Help us God to step out on faith, and trust you with all of our hearts.  Guide us in the direction that we should go to. Help us to understand and meditate on our purpose, and begin to walk into it.  We need your guidance, Lord. We need your Direction, Lord.  Hold our hands for this is the scariest thing we have ever done. We are anxious, nervous, and scared. We don’t want to fail. Help us to know Jesus that we are not perfect and that you will be with us every step of the way. You meet us right where we are. Through it all, we lean on you. Lord, we love you and give thanks to your precious name, In Jesus name! Amen!!
