As a Health & Wellness coach, I have learned the ART of Coaching. It is a flow and ebb of a partnership between a Coach and a Client. We get connected and become a team for the higher purpose of the client to achieve his or her goals. To be succeful you must begin in the planning phase. Seting up a SMART goal will put you in a position to win. Your goal must be Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, and Have a Time of completion.
You begin by defining what it is that you actually want. For example, I want to lose 50lbs, or I want to save for my next vacation. Just getting here is a commendable step. Many of us have many goals that we let slip our minds and pass us by simply by not writing the goal down. This, however, is not enough to reach your goal. The next thing you need is to have a Reality.
Besides me, do you have a goal of being a billionaire when you wake up in the morning? That would be amazing right!. Let’s add that to our goal list. This brings to a point that we all may have goals that are not attainable. I call these goals DREAMS. It is a very slim chance(like 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001)(lol) that I will wake up a billionaire. When you are setting goals you have to make sure they can be a reality. This means the goals needs to be able to be attained or obtained. For example: I would like to lose 2.2lbs in 7days. A dream would be I would like to use 25lbs in 7 days and keep it off. Another example i’m going to save 10% -25% of my paychecks for the next 6 months to go on my family vacation next year. MAke sure that your goals can actually become your reality. Take your time. Don’t give up. You can do it.
Obtaining your goal is more achievable if your have multiple action steps. The steps are you guide to be successful. If you are trying to lose weight and your only plan is to diet and you don’t lose any weight. This may cause you to give up and quit on your goal. If you try to incorporate multiple options or diet, that could be an option for you. The action steps is your plan and map of what to do. This keeps the guessing out of the picture. You can combine diet along with exercise. This will increase your chances of reaching your goal. As far as saving, if your already living paycheck to paycheck and caught in the rat race you may need to pick up an extra gig to reach your goal or think of other ways that will work for your family. These are some of the many ways we help clients as Health & Wellness Coaches. Other options to reaching your goal may be to cut back on current expenses and be open to increasing your income. Options are in your favor. During a session with a client. We may say what do you think is one goal you can set to reach your goal of becomming more finacially secure.
At last but not least, you need a way forward. This is im my view, How much drive, passion, and energy you put toward reaching your goal. You may have all three set out, but to achieve the goal or go beyond the goal you need to have some drive. You need motivation. Some advice is to remain optimistic. Be grateful and focus on the positive in life. Don’t be yourself up if you fail. I always say at least if you fail, you know you can try again. You don’t even have to worry about ever reaching your goals if you don’t even try. But you will have to face the fact day in and out that you did not reach it because you were afraid to even begin. I commend you on taking this huge step in reaching your goal. You are your biggest critic.
