For the safety of our supporters, volunteers, and staff, our annual NAMIWalks fundraiser will be held virtually in lieu of the originally planned, in-person event at Lafreniere Park.
“This year, it’s more important than ever that we continue our tradition of charitable giving and raising awareness with NAMIWalks Greater New Orleans,” said NAMI New Orleans Executive Director, Joseph Bodenmiller. “I am inspired by our team and our supporters that are undeterred by the logistical challenges posed by the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic and will fundraise virtually in support of NAMI New Orleans and those who utilize our services.”
NAMI New Orleans is the community’s leading organization helping people with mental illness and their families. In our four-parish service area of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines there are approximately 75,000 people whose lives are affected by mental illness. The education, support services, and advocacy efforts help families cope with the effects of mental illness and increase public understanding.
“Although we are not able to come together in person again this year, our team at NAMI New Orleans is so grateful for all the donors and sponsors who have continued to support our organization, families, and signature fundraising events.” said NAMI New Orleans Director of Education, Shannon Williams. NAMIWalks Greater New Orleans, now in its twelfth year, is generously supported by IBERIABANK/First Horizon and national sponsors Alkermes, Humana, Takeda, and Lundbeck.
Proceeds from this event will help provide resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness to build better lives in New Orleans and beyond. For more information on how to build a team or become a sponsor, please emailwalks@namineworleans.org or call 504-896-2345.
